According to the JMA, the Aomori Prefecture town of Fukaura saw precipitation of 91.5 millimeters in the one-hour period up to 7:26 a.m. on Aug. 3, while the Akita Prefecture town of Happo recorded 72.5 mm of rain in the one hour up to 8:08 a.m. -- both records for the municipalities.
